Right on right on right on! Construction has officially commenced at Nueces Brewing! This has been a hard 2 years of work to get all the financials in order, find a building, make the deal, architects, plans, construction bids and on and on and on. So, it’s really sweet to see all of that work go from paper to physical changes.
The first order of business, plumbing. The floors had to be cut to run all of the new drainage lines. Most are in the brewhouse with one running to the bar up font. Trench drains have been installed in the brewhouse, now time for concrete. We’ve also formed and poured a raised ‘wet’ area in the brewery where our fermenters will be placed. This will all eventually be coated with a special sealant before we bring in the equipment.
Speaking of equipment. We’ve placed the order for our brewhouse! Many thanks to our friends at Deutsche Beverage for working with us for the last 2 years in helping plan for this day.
Our brewhouse is a 3 vessel, 15bbl system complete with a host of bells and whistles. We chose this system because it’s small enough for us to do a variety of single batch beers while also having the ability to scale up and pump out 2 to 3 batches in a single day. More on that later. Better yet, when we’re complete and running you can stop by and get the full tour.
In the taproom the guys have been able to do a little discovery demolition. 401 S. Water St. was originally Tradewinds Ford – Saab. The tap room was a massive showroom surrounded with floor to ceiling windows. We really didn’t know if the windows were still there since the walls had been shut in years ago when it was a TV station. Well, the windows aren’t there, but the original font door is there and the window above it with Tradewinds Ford – Saab is! We’re going to do our best to leave this in place. Fingers crossed!
Last but not least the electrical guys have been re-wiring the building, removing the old lighting, and installing new ones.
It’s a whole host of chaos that will soon result in a symphony of great times shared with friends and family!
Stay tuned for more updates and please, share it with your friends. Oh, don’t forget we have swag for sale on the website as well.
Cheers!
