2023 Chili Cookoff

Its time for our 4th annual Chili Cookoff! – Feb 11, 2023

Entries are FREE but limited to 12 teams. Winners will receive gift cards and swag! Please sign up by emailing NuecesBrewingEvents@gmail.com Let us know your phone number and team name.

Teams will prepare their entry at home and bring the chili in a crock pot, insulated box or something to keep their chili hot. If everyone could bring a roll of paper towels, that would be helpful as well.

Categories

People’s choice:
Teams will be supplying samples with 2 oz servings of their chili, be prepared to leave with no chili. We will provide the tasting cups and spoons. Remember, the longer your supply lasts, the longer the public can vote for your team. The public will vote for their favorite chili with tickets, which we will supply to public tasters. There is no limit on how many times someone can vote. Also, please a bring small serving spoon so you can serve into the 2 oz cups from your chili pot (a regular tablespoon should be fine). If you would like to provide any sort of fixins (onions, Fritos, crackers, cheese, etc) you’re more than welcome, but not required.

Panel judging:
Teams will submit 12 oz of chili for judging, we will supply the cups. Chili is the only thing which needs to be submitted (no fixins).

Creativity:
Themes, costumes, etc are encouraged, but not required. We will have a prize for the most creative team. This is a combination of costume, name, and theme.

Winners will be announced for each category. The winner of the panel judging category will be deemed as Grand Champion.

This is intended to be a fun, light hearted, chili and beer event. Nobody is competing for the world championship, so please keep that in mind.

Here’s the schedule:
11:30 – Noon: Arrival and setup.
Judging: Around 3:00 ish
Winners announced: 5:00 or earlier.
